SSA’s operational and clinical expertise focuses on maintaining standards established by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. SSA can provide clinically validated assessment tools to help physicians identify patients suffering from sleep apnea. Once the patient has been referred, SSA conducts full polysomnographic tests and reports the results back to the referring physician. SSA's strict quality assurance guidelines, performance standard audits, computerized billing systems, national recruitment, and educational inservices ensure that patients, hospitals and physicians receive the highest quality service at all times.

All SSA patients are usually scheduled for sleep tests within two weeks of the physician's referral. SSA's sleep professionals utilize state-of-the-art equipment for diagnostic testing and treatment of patients with sleep apnea. SSA can also provide educational inservices to allied health professionals. Also included are marketing materials and educational literature so that patients better understand sleep disorders and the diagnostic testing that is performed. All of these value-added services equate to uncompromised quality, high patient and provider satisfaction and superior outcomes.

How the Program Works

SSA will assist in setting up your facility by providing all start-up equipment and personnel. SSA will hire and train all technicians, operations, administrative, and sales and marketing staff. Once your facility is in operation, all tests conducted by the staff are either scored on-site or downloaded and sent to a regional SSA facility where test-scoring services are conducted by our registered polysomnographic technicians. The tests are then returned within three to five business days to your interpreting physician.

Most clients have an onboard physician who acts as the on-site medical director of their lab and performs the interpretation services. If needed, SSA retains the services of renowned sleep medicine consultants who are available (at an additional charge) to render interpretations and/or oversee the professional component. Tests interpreted by SSA physicians are delivered overnight to your facility manager. Upon receipt of the scoring data, the interpreting physician makes a diagnosis, plans a regimen of treatment and advises the patient.

Assessing Your Responsibilities

The start up of any new program brings anxiety and anticipation. SSA helps to offset this by utilizing its implementation team to review paperwork, assess physical lab space, and work with your staff to ensure proper start up of your program.

Once the implementation is started, there are a few requirements - mostly administrative in nature - which you will need to provide:

* Telephone and office equipment (desk, chair, file cabinets, etc.)
* Minor construction (typically undertaken by hospital maintenance staff with SSA assistance)
* Full or queen size bed with pillows and linens
* Patient billing for in- and out-patient services
* Physician billing for professional fees
* Billing and collection for services performed
