Did you know that one in three
Americans suffer from a sleep disorder? An estimated
20 million Americans suffer from a common sle ep disorder
called “obstructive sleep apnea”.
Having a sleep disorder causes great discomfort and
the increased risk of developing a wide range of health-related
problems such as hypertension, depression, job impairment,
industrial accidents and even driving fatalities.
In fact, sleep apnea— a condition in which the
air passage in the throat becomes blocked – can
cause a person to stop breathing from 10 to 100 seconds
at a time, from 5 to over 100 times an hour, during one night’s
sleep. As a result, oxygen levels in the bloodstream
fall, the heart works harder which may lead to high blood pressure, stroke,
heart attack and/or abnormal heart rhythms.
The good news is that sleep apnea can be easily diagnosed
and it can be treated! Sleep Services of America (SSA)
is dedicated to providing the highest quality diagnosis
and treatment services for people suffering from sleep
apnea and other sleep disorders. We’ve been helping
people with sleep disorders for over 27 years, and as
a leading sleep diagnostic provider in the United States,
we conduct over 28,000 sleep procedures in over 50 labs,
across seven states each year.
If you suspect you or someone you know may have sleep
apnea, please contact your physician or SSA for additional information.
